Two clocks, one deadline day

Sunday, 25 October 2026 is the busiest single day of the defence-school form season. The UP Sainik School entrance exam closes its normal-fee window at 5 PM, and the Rashtriya Military Schools Common Entrance Test (RMS CET) closes its late-fee window at the same hour. If either form is still unfinished in your house, today is the day to finish it — not tomorrow, because tomorrow is too late for one of them and twice as expensive for the other.

What closes today

One difference matters for planning: for RMS CET, the form must be in by 5 PM but fee payment stays open till 11:50 PM tonight. For UP Sainik, form and fee both end at 5 PM.

The morning checklist: finish before 5 PM

Work through this list in order, and do not leave payment to the last hour — portals slow down on deadline days.

1. Keep the confirmation page, not just the payment receipt. For RMS CET, a bank debit alone does not prove submission. For UP Sainik, download the completed form and receipt.
2. Check the photograph and signature before you pay. These are the fields families most often need to fix later, and fixes are only possible inside the correction window.
3. One application per candidate for RMS CET. A second registration for the same child creates trouble the correction window cannot undo.
4. For UP Sainik, check domicile first. Applicants and their fathers must be domiciled in Uttar Pradesh; Class 6 applicants must be born between 2 July 2015 and 1 January 2018, Class 9 between 2 July 2012 and 1 January 2015.
5. Submit by 4 PM if you can. That leaves an hour for a failed payment retry.

If you miss today: two very different futures

Missing the UP Sainik normal-fee window costs money, not the year: the late window opens tomorrow, 26 October, and runs till 31 October at 5 PM with a total fee of Rs 2,000. The correction window follows on 3 to 5 November, admit cards arrive after 25 November, and the exam is on 20 December 2026.

Missing the RMS CET window costs the year. Today is the final day of the late window and no further window has been announced. The correction window runs on 27 and 28 October, the city intimation slip is expected in the last week of November, admit cards come five to seven days before the exam, and the written test is on 13 December 2026.

The December countdown, and the AISSEE watch

From today: the RIMCEE written exam is 42 days away (6 December), RMS CET is 49 days away (13 December), and the UP Sainik exam is 56 days away (20 December). The AISSEE 2027 exam is 98 days away on 31 January 2027 (EXPECTED).

On the AISSEE notification watch: as of yesterday evening’s live portal check, the NTA portal still showed 2026-cycle items only — 15 days past last year’s 10 October release date. Be careful with “form out” messages: one education portal claims the notification came out on 13 October, while the same portal’s own AISSEE page says no 2027 bulletin was listed as of 16 October. Until a bulletin appears on the official NTA portal, treat every “form out” claim as unverified.
