RIMC is the hardest exam. The English standard is very high, and the interview round eliminates many candidates. AISSEE has the most competition (4 lakh applicants) but the paper is more predictable. RMS sits in between.

RIMC has the narrowest window. If your child is older than 13, RIMC is not an option. Sainik School and RMS give you two chances (Class 6 and Class 9).

RMS is the cheapest. RIMC is heavily subsidised by the MoD. Sainik Schools are the most expensive but still much cheaper than private boarding schools.
