Everything below is what to verify on notification day, drawn from the 2026 cycle’s bulletin. Treat all figures as EXPECTED until the official notice confirms them.
October begins on Thursday, and if the last three cycles are any guide, this is the month the AISSEE 2027 form opens. Last year the entire window lasted 20 days (10 October to 30 October 2025, later extended to 9 November) — and the families who suffered were the ones who filled the form in a hurry and found a wrong date of birth or an expired category certificate too late to fix cleanly.
Here are the ten things to check before you submit, not after.
EXPECTED (2026 cycle): 10–12 years for Class VI and 13–15 years for Class IX as of 31 March. Even a one-day miss disqualifies. Count from the official date of birth certificate — not the school diary, not memory.
CONFIRMED (pattern): Class VI applicants must have passed Class V; Class IX applicants must have passed Class VIII. Check the exact wording in the bulletin — “passed” versus “appearing” matters.
An OBC-NCL certificate older than the bulletin’s specified cut-off is the most common rejection trigger. EXPECTED: the bulletin will name a date by which the certificate must be valid. If yours predates it, get it renewed this week — renewals take longer than you think.
CONFIRMED (established rule): 67% of seats go to candidates from the state where the school is located, 33% to other states. Your domicile decides which quota your child competes in — and it also shapes school choice strategy.
The 2026 cycle covered existing Sainik Schools and approved New Sainik Schools, including the 40%/60% admission route (afternoon update). Read the participating-schools list carefully — new schools get added every cycle.
The portal rejects uploads that don’t match the specified size, format and background. Scan before the form opens: photo, signature, thumb impression, DOB, domicile and category certificates (full documents guide).
EXPECTED (2026 cycle): Rs 850 (General) and Rs 700 (SC/ST), paid online. Save the payment receipt — a deducted-but-unconfirmed payment is the classic last-day nightmare.
You will pick exam cities in order of preference. Choose cities you can realistically reach on 31 January 2027 — the CONFIRMED tentative exam date per NTA’s 16 September 2026 examination calendar — not aspirational ones.
NTA typically opens a short correction window after applications close (December in the 2026 cycle). Note the dates, but do not rely on it: date of birth, category and school choices are often only partially editable or not editable at all.
After submission, download and print the confirmation page — it is the only proof your application exists. If the site shows a pending status, resolve it the same day.
Has the AISSEE 2027 notification been released?
