Last verified: 11 October 2026 (Sunday). Key dates are CONFIRMED from the UP Sainik Schools Society admission schedule as reported by two independent portals (Buddy4Study and sainikschool360, both reading the official prospectus at upsainikschool.org). 14 days remain in the normal-fee window. This is a deadline countdown, not a form-filling guide — if you want the pre-submit checks, read yesterday’s form-check piece.

The UP Sainik School entrance exam form for the 2027-28 session — covering Class 6 and Class 9 entry to the two state-run schools, Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School in Lucknow (Sarojini Nagar) and UP Sainik School in Gorakhpur — has been open since 10 September 2026. With the normal-fee window closing on 25 October 2026 at 5 pm, there are exactly 14 days left as of today.
The part parents miss: the form does not simply close on the 25th. A late window runs from 26 to 31 October 2026 (till 5 pm), but the fee doubles from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 — that is the cost of one more week’s delay.
After that: correction window 3–5 November 2026, admit cards from 25 November 2026, and the entrance exam on 20 December 2026 (Sunday) — a 2.5-hour, 200-mark offline OMR paper covering Maths, English, General Knowledge, and Intelligence, at Class 5 level (Class 6 entry) or Class 8 level (Class 9 entry). Exam centres: Agra, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Lucknow.

The 25th deadline is not the week to start hunting for paperwork. Do this now:
Once the form is in, the prep clock starts — the exam is on 20 December. Our 112-day AISSEE countdown plan is a different exam, but its maths and English study rhythm transfers well to the UP paper.
This is the point where confusion costs families a seat. The UP Sainik School entrance exam is run by the UP government through the UP Sainik Schools Society and admits only to the Lucknow and Gorakhpur schools. Sainik Schools at Mainpuri, Jhansi, and Amethi admit through AISSEE (the NTA exam), whose notification has not been released yet. Many UP families apply to both exams to keep two doors open — and that is sensible, because the two schedules no longer overlap. They are, however, two separate forms on two separate portals.
What is the last date for the UP Sainik School 2027-28 application?
25 October 2026 at 5 pm is the last date with the normal fee of Rs 1,000. A late window runs from 26 to 31 October 2026 at 5 pm with a doubled fee of Rs 2,000. Applications open at upsainikschool.org only.
Who can apply for the UP Sainik School entrance exam?
Children applying for Class 6 or Class 9 whose both the child and the father hold a valid Uttar Pradesh domicile. Children from other states are not eligible for these two state-run schools.
When is the UP Sainik School entrance exam for the 2027-28 session?
20 December 2026, a Sunday. It is a 2.5-hour offline OMR test of 200 marks covering Maths, English, General Knowledge, and Intelligence.
Is the UP Sainik School exam the same as AISSEE?
No. The UP Sainik School entrance exam is run by the UP Sainik Schools Society for the Lucknow and Gorakhpur schools, separate from the NTA-run AISSEE used by Sainik Schools like Mainpuri, Jhansi, and Amethi. Many families apply to both.
