Exam day feels like the finish line. Your child walks out on 31 January, you exhale — then the questions start: when is the result? What next? Here is what nobody tells parents: the exam is not the admission. A seven-stage journey follows — answer key, result, qualifying marks, registration, choice filling, seat allotment, verification and medical. Ignore any one stage and a good score can die there. This guide marks every step ✅ CONFIRMED from official documents or 🔶 EXPECTED from past patterns.

First, NTA releases the provisional answer key with your child’s recorded OMR responses — 🔶 expected February 2027 (~3 weeks after the exam, per the 2026 pattern). Match it against your child’s question paper set code: Class 6 gives 3 marks per Maths question and 2 elsewhere; Class 9 gives 4 and 2. No negative marking.

The result appears on the NTA AISSEE portal, where you download the scorecard with your application number and date of birth. 🔶 Expected March 2027 — roughly 6–8 weeks after the 31 January exam (2026 followed this gap after its 18 January 2026 exam). No exact date announced; ignore WhatsApp forwards claiming one.

Clearing the exam does not mean qualifying for counselling. The bar (2026 bulletin, expected to repeat — 🔶 EXPECTED): 25% in each section AND 40% aggregate — not applicable to SC/ST. After registration comes choice filling — ranking the schools where your child could be placed. This is the most strategic step in the whole process, and the SOP’s rule is unambiguous: after the choice-filling deadline, no reordering, no adding, no deleting. (✅ CONFIRMED.)
You get a window to prioritise choices before online counselling begins and again before the Spot Admission Round. Allotment is entirely computer-run, round by round (✅ CONFIRMED, AISSAC 2025 SOP) — each seat goes to the highest-ranked eligible candidate, considering domicile (Home State vs Other State), category (GEN/OBC-NCL/SC/ST/DEF), All India Rank, and order of school preferences.
The reservation picture for the 33 existing schools (✅ CONFIRMED): 67% Home State / 33% Other States; within each — 15% SC, 7.5% ST, 27% OBC-NCL; 25% of the remaining 50.5% for Defence wards; girls: 10% of Class 6 vacancies or 10 seats, whichever is more. New Sainik Schools follow their own management’s policy.

A provisional seat offer is not admission yet. Per the SOP, ✅ document verification, ✅ medical fitness at designated centres, and ✅ school fee payment must follow — fail any of these and the seat goes to the next candidate.

How many rounds of AISSAC e-counselling are held?
The SOP provides for round-wise online e-counselling — the 2025 cycle ran six rounds, so expect similar for 2027, plus a single-day offline Spot Admission Round. Exact round counts come with each year’s SOP.
What are the qualifying marks for AISSEE 2027?
Based on the 2026 bulletin: 25 percent in each section and 40 percent aggregate, not applicable to SC and ST candidates. Only qualified candidates can join the AISSAC e-counselling.
Is there any fee for AISSAC registration or choice filling?
No. The SOP states clearly that registration and choice filling on the AISSAC portal are free of cost. Anyone asking for money in the name of counselling is a fraud.
Can I change my school choices after filling them?
Not after the choice-filling deadline: no reordering, no adding, no deleting. You do get a window to prioritise choices before online counselling begins, and again before the Spot Admission Round.
When will the AISSEE 2027 result be declared?
No official date yet. Based on the 2026 pattern (exam 18 January, result ~6-8 weeks later), expect around March 2027. Treat any exact date online as a guess unless it comes from NTA.
Do girls get seats in all Sainik Schools?
In Class 6 of each of the 33 existing Sainik Schools, 10 percent of vacancies or 10 seats (whichever is more) are reserved for girls, per the SOP. New Sainik Schools follow their own management’s policy.
