UP Sainik School: 24 Days to Apply

Last verified: 1 October 2026. Every date and fee below marked CONFIRMED was read on the official UP Sainik Schools Society website (upsainikschool.org) today. Dates after the exam come from education portals reporting the society’s schedule and are marked EXPECTED.

If your child wants a seat at the Lucknow or Gorakhpur Sainik School, the clock is now your biggest enemy. The UP Sainik Schools Society opened applications on 10 September 2026, and the normal window shuts on 25 October 2026 at 5:00 PM sharp — that is 24 days from today. Miss that, and you pay double to squeeze into the late-fee window.

The dates that matter (CONFIRMED, official website)

Post-exam dates reported by education portals (EXPECTED): answer key around 24 December 2026, written-exam result around 30 December 2026, interview letters from 7 January 2027, medicals and interviews between 1 February and 28 February 2027, and the final result between 15 and 20 March 2027.

Fees: Rs. 1000 now, Rs. 2000 later

• All categories: Rs. 1000 if you apply between 10 September and 25 October 2026 (CONFIRMED on official website + multiple portals).
• With late fee: Rs. 2000 total, 26–31 October 2026 (CONFIRMED on official website).
• Payment is online only, and note this carefully: once you pay the fee, you cannot edit the application form again. The society’s own instructions say the form stays editable only until payment. So review everything twice before clicking pay.

How to apply in 4 steps

1. Register at upsainikschool.org — you get a username and password for your dashboard. Keep them safe.
2. Fill the form with exact details. You can edit it any number of times before payment.
3. Pay Rs. 1000 online, then print the application form and keep it safe.
4. Correction window (3–5 November): you can fix most details then — but not your name, class, mobile number, or email ID. Get those right the first time.

Two schools, one exam

The UP Sainik Schools Society runs two residential CBSE schools, both fully financed by the state government:

• Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School, Lucknow — the first Sainik School of India (established 1960). Class 6 is for boys; Class 9 takes boys and girls.
• UP Sainik School, Gorakhpur — boys and girls in both Class 6 and Class 9.

A word of caution from the society itself: its website currently carries an advisory regarding fraudulent persons. Apply only through upsainikschool.org, and never pay anyone who promises a seat — admission is through this exam and nothing else.

For parents tracking the national cycle alongside this one: the NTA-run AISSEE 2027 form is expected this month too, but UP’s exam is a separate society exam with its own December date — do not confuse the two.

One more thing to sort this week: the society’s schedule expects a UP domicile claim, so if you have not got a valid domicile certificate, start that process now — our complete domicile certificate guide explains exactly what to do.
