Three days. That’s how long is left to apply for one of the most prestigious school admissions in the country. The National Testing Agency will close the online application window for the Rashtriya Indian Military College Entrance Examination (RIMCEE) 2026 on 30 September 2026, for admission to Class 8 at RIMC Dehradun for the July 2027 term.

Here’s the thing — if you’re reading this site, you’re probably preparing for AISSEE 2027 too. RIMC isn’t a rival to that plan; it’s the sibling plan. RIMC Dehradun is the country’s oldest military boarding school, and its alumni list reads like a Who’s Who of the Armed Forces. The entrance exam tests written English and Mathematics (descriptive papers) plus General Knowledge — skills that overlap heavily with AISSEE preparation.
The one big difference worth knowing: RIMC selects purely on merit — there is no reservation system, and admissions run on state-wise/zone-wise merit lists. And unlike AISSEE’s single written stage followed by e-counselling, RIMC adds an in-person viva voce round. A child who’s preparing for both gets more chances, not divided effort.
This is the part people get wrong. RIMCEE 2026 has narrow eligibility:

Who can apply for the RIMC entrance exam? Children born between 2 July 2013 and 1 January 2015 who are studying in (or have passed) Class 7 from a recognised school. The NTA is also accepting this year’s exam fully online — no hard-copy applications.
