AISSEE 2027 Notification Still Not Out? 8 Things to Do While You Wait
📢 Last Updated: October 19, 2026 at 11:15 AM IST — This article is updated regularly with the latest AISSEE 2027 information, official notifications & expert insights.

October is half gone, the NTA AISSEE portal still shows last year’s updates, and every other education site is shouting a different date at you. If you are a parent refreshing the portal every morning, here is the honest position: the AISSEE 2027 notification is not out yet, and the wait is normal. What is not fine is sitting idle while it lasts. The application window last year opened on 10 October and closed within weeks — when this year’s window opens, the families who finish the paperwork sprint calmly are the ones who are already prepared.

Last verified: 19 October 2026 · Notification not released ✅ (no bulletin on the NTA portal; one portal’s “13 October” claim has no official backing — we covered that on 18 Oct) · AISSEE 2026 window: 10 Oct – 9 Nov 2025 ✅ · Exam 31 January 2027 🔶 (per NTA exam calendar; subject to the bulletin) · Fee ~Rs 850 / Rs 700 🔶 (expected, last-cycle basis) · Official portal: exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society

Why the silence is not a crisis

NTA does not run on the calendar parents imagine. In the last three cycles, the notification has arrived “several weeks before the January exam” without a fixed date — September, October, it varies. The official AISSEE portal currently carries AISSEE 2026 updates, which is exactly what a not-yet-announced cycle looks like. Nothing is broken; nobody has missed anything.

What the wait does cost you is the thing most families underestimate: the window, once open, is short. AISSEE 2026 gave candidates roughly a month (10 October to 9 November 2025, after an extension). Documents need scanning, photographs need to meet specifications, domicile certificates sometimes need fresh issuance. Do all of that under a ticking deadline and you will make exactly the kind of mistakes the correction window exists for — or worse, the kind it cannot fix.

So treat this waiting period as the free extra time nobody usually gets. Here is how to spend it.

8 things to finish before the notification drops

1. Sort the photograph and signature specs now

The AISSEE form last year asked for a scanned photograph (10–200 KB), signature (10–50 KB), and left-hand thumb impression (10–50 KB), all in JPG. Get a fresh passport-size photo taken this week, scan at the right size, and check the background is plain. Photo rejections are the single most common trivial reason forms get flagged — our guide on photo and signature requirements walks through the exact pitfalls.

2. Verify the birth certificate, not the form

The age bracket for Class 6 is birth between 1 April 2015 and 31 March 2017; for Class 9, between 1 April 2012 and 31 March 2014. But the bracket only matters if the date on the birth certificate is exactly right. If there is even a small discrepancy between the school record and the certificate, the certificate wins in the form — and getting a correction takes weeks, which you currently have.

3. Get the domicile certificate in hand

AISSEE counselling needs a domicile certificate for most quota claims. If you do not have one, apply now through your state’s portal — issuance takes 1–3 weeks depending on the district. Waiting for the notification first means waiting in a queue with everyone else.

4. Confirm the category certificate is the right one

Defence wards, OBC (NCL), SC, ST, EWS — each has its own certificate format, and the OBC certificate in particular must be the Non-Creamy-Layer version in the prescribed format. An old caste certificate from 2022 will not satisfy a 2027 form. Check the format against last year’s information bulletin, which the NTA portal still hosts.

5. Keep studying to the January 31 working date

The single worst use of the waiting period is pausing preparation “until the form comes.” The exam working date — 31 January 2027 — is 104 days away regardless of when the notification lands. The notification will not add or subtract a single day of study. Full mock tests every week, timed to the paper’s duration, should already be in the routine.

6. Shortlist schools and exam centres early

The form asks for school preferences and an exam centre choice. This is a decision worth one calm evening, not a panicked ten minutes at a cyber café. Map the nearest Sainik Schools, check which admit girls if relevant, and rank your genuine preferences. (Our cutoff-trends piece can help you set a realistic target score for your chosen schools.)

7. Keep Rs 850 (or Rs 700) ready in a UPI-linked account

Last cycle’s fee was Rs 850 for General/Defence/OBC (NCL) and Rs 700 for SC/ST, paid online. The 2027 figure may differ slightly, but having the money in a debit-card or UPI-ready account removes one more last-day friction. Online-only payment, no offline option.

8. Set a notification tripwire, then stop doomscrolling

Bookmark the NTA portal, enable its alerts if offered, and check it once a day — once. The rest of the rumour economy (WhatsApp forwards, YouTube thumbnails, portals claiming dates with no source) costs you attention and returns nothing. We flagged one such false “13 October” claim two days ago; there will be more.

The waiting-room action table

Week Do this Why now
This week Fresh photo + signature scans at spec; check birth certificate dates Rejections happen here, cheaply fixable now
Week 2 Apply for domicile; verify category certificate format Issuance queues are empty before the notification
Week 3 Shortlist schools + centres; confirm fee account is ready Decisions made calmly beat decisions made at 11 pm
Week 4 First full mock under exam timing; fix weakest section The exam date does not wait for the notification

What NOT to do while waiting
