Applications opened on 10 September 2026 and close on 25 October 2026 — that’s barely four weeks from today.
If your family lives in Uttar Pradesh, this deserves your attention this week. Here’s the thing most parents miss: this is not the AISSEE. UP Sainik Schools run their own entrance exam, on their own dates, with their own rules. A child can apply to both AISSEE and the UP Sainik School exam — they don’t clash, and they double your child’s chances.

The eligibility has one non-negotiable condition: both the applicant and the applicant’s father must be domiciled in Uttar Pradesh. No UP domicile, no application — this one is strict.
The application fee is ₹1,000 for all categories if you apply by 25 October; with late fee (26–31 October), it becomes ₹2,000. My honest advice: don’t wait for the late window. Paying double for the same form is the worst kind of last-minute tax.
The written exam is a single OMR-based objective paper — 200 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes, with no negative marking:

The paper is set in English and Hindi. Candidates who clear the written exam are shortlisted for the interview — roughly three times the number of vacancies — followed by a medical examination. The final merit list considers written + interview + medical + reservation, not the written score alone. Reservation follows Uttar Pradesh government rules (OBC 27%, SC 21%, ST 2%, EWS 10%).
Is the UP Sainik School exam the same as AISSEE? No. AISSEE is conducted by the NTA for the 33 central Sainik Schools and new Sainik Schools; its 2027 notification is not yet released. The UP Sainik School entrance is conducted by the UP Sainik Schools Society for its two UP schools. They are separate exams with separate forms, fees, and dates.
