Two children can know exactly the same syllabus. One walks out of AISSEE with a score 40 marks higher. The difference is rarely intelligence — it’s what they did with their 150 or 180 minutes.
I say this to parents every year: the AISSEE is a selection test, not a school exam. Your child isn’t trying to get everything right. They’re trying to collect the maximum marks the paper allows in the time available. That is a strategy problem, and it can be trained. With 31 January 2027 as the exam date (✅ confirmed, tentative), there are four months to build the habit.

The biggest mistake children make is attempting the paper in order, question 1 to question 125, at whatever pace comes naturally. A hard Maths question at Q37 eats five minutes that belonged to five easy GK questions later.
The two-pass method fixes this:
Pass 1 — the harvest (first 60% of your time). Read every question once. If you can answer it in under 45 seconds, answer it and bubble it. If not, put a small dot next to it and move on.
Pass 2 — the hunt (the remaining time). Return to the dotted questions. Spend 2–3 minutes on the medium ones. For the ones you still can’t solve, take your best guess — remember, no negative marking.
Why it works: easy questions carry the same marks as hard ones.

These are starting points. After two or three mocks, adjust: if your child finishes English early, move five minutes to Maths.
Qualifying needs 25% in every section, not just a good total. A child brilliant at Maths but weak at GK can score 200/300 and still fail with GK under 12.5. This pattern shows up every year: total 190+, one section at 10, result — not qualified.
Your weakest section gets protected time, not leftover time. Every section gets its own pass-1 block above. Section minimums first, total second.
With no negative marking, guessing is not cheating — it is the system. But smart guessing differs from random guessing:
Guessing is the last resort, not the first. Pass 2 exists so guessing happens after the brain has genuinely tried.

From October, do one full mock every week under real conditions: time limit, two-pass method, the plan above, the OMR endgame. The first two mocks will feel messy. By the fourth, the rhythm becomes automatic — and that’s exactly when it matters, on 31 January.

Is there negative marking in the AISSEE 2027? No. Per the NTA’s 2026 pattern, a wrong answer and a blank both score zero — never leave a question blank.
How should I divide my time in the AISSEE Class 6 paper? For the 150-minute paper: 75 minutes for Mathematics (150 marks), 30 for Language, 25 for Intelligence, 20 for GK — plus 10 minutes for OMR bubbling and a final sweep.
Should my child attempt all questions in the AISSEE? Yes. With no negative marking, an unattempted question scores the same zero as a wrong answer. Use the two-pass method: easy questions first, then come back for the rest.
What happens if my child scores well overall but fails one section? The rule needs 25 percent in each section plus 40 percent aggregate. Falling below 25 percent in any single section disqualifies the result even with a strong total.
Should my child bubble the OMR as they go or at the end? Bubble after each question — one shifted row corrupts every answer after it.
Is changing answers in the AISSEE a good idea? First instincts are right more often than students believe. Change an answer only if you find a genuine error in your working — not because a question felt too easy.
